An Act relative to licenses to carry firearms and certain knives.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 130B of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 1, after the word “firearm” the following:- “and knife”

SECTION 2. Section 131 of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 1, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 3. Section 131(a) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting, in line 10, after the word “purposes” the following:-

“(iii) knives, including a device or case which enables a knife with a locking blade to be drawn at a locked position, or any knife with a detachable blade capable of being propelled by any mechanism, or a switch knife, or any knife having an automatic spring release device by which the blade is released from the handle, having a blade of over one-half inches;”

SECTION 4. Said section 131(a) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 29 and 34, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 5. Section 131(b) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting, in line 77, after the word “purposes” the following:-

SECTION 6. Section 131(d) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 103, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 7. Section 131(e) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 143 and 150, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 8. Said section 131(e) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 159 and 179, after the word “ firearm” the following:- “or any knife expressly permitted in section 131(a) and 131(b) of this chapter”

SECTION 9. Section 131(g) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 218, after the word “ Firearms” the following:- “and Certain Knives”

SECTION 10. Section 131(i) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 230, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 11. Said section 131(i) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 246, after the word “Firearm” the following:- “and Knife”

SECTION 12. Said section 131(i) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 263 and 265, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives.”

SECTION 13. Section 131(l) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 293, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 14. Section 131(m) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in lines 304, 323, and 327, the words “rifle or shotgun”, and inserting, the following:- “rifle, shotgun, or knife”

SECTION 15. Said section 131(m) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in line 328, the words “rifles or shotguns”, and inserting, the following:- “rifles, shotguns, or knives”

SECTION 16. Said Section 131(m) of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 335, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 17. Section 131(n) of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 336, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 18. Section 131A of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 4, after the word “firearm” the following:- “or knife”

SECTION 19. Said section 131A of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 10, after the word “therefor” the following:- “or a permit to purchase, rent or lease a knife expressly permitted by sections 131(a) and 131(b) of this chapter”

SECTION 20. Section 131B of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in line 2, the words “shotgun or machine gun”, and inserting, the following:- “shotgun, machine gun, or knife expressly stated in section 131 of this chapter”

SECTION 21. Section 131I of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 3 and 8, after the word “firearm” the following:- “and certain knives”

SECTION 22. Section 131O of said chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 4, after the word “firearms” the following:- “and knives”

SECTION 23. Said section 131O of chapter 140 of the General laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 7, after the word “firearm” the following:- “and knife”

SECTION 24. Said section 131O of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, in lines 14 and 16, after the word “firearm” the following:- “or knife”
