An Act relative to sex offender classification.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 178E of chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (q) the following subsection:-
Subsection (r). The sex offender registry board shall prioritize the registration process of sex offenders convicted of 1 or more offenses that have been designated a sexually violent offense or sex offenses against a child, in accordance with the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, 42 U.S.C. section 14071, requiring by operation of law a minimum Level 1 life time registration for those convicted as adults and 20 year registration for those adjudicated as juveniles.
