An Act relative to firefighter bargaining units.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Chapter 150E of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end of the first paragraph the following sentences:-
The commission shall not find inappropriate and shall not modify or amend any bargaining unit in any fire department in whole or in part engaging in, or having the responsibility of fire fighting, which unit consists in whole or in part of uniform members of the department subordinate to a fire commission, fire commissioner, public safety director, board of engineers or chief of department. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the labor relations commission shall not entertain any petition seeking to modify the scope of any fire department bargaining unit.
