An Act to promote civic engagement in setting the income tax rate.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Subsection (b) of section 4 of chapter 62 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- Part B taxable income shall not be taxed at a rate of more than 5.3 per cent unless said rate is approved by the initiative petition process provided for in Articles XLVIII, LXXIV and LXXXI of the Amendments of the Massachusetts Constitution.
