An Act relative to the safety and maintenance of gas shut-off valves.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 164 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following new section:-
Section 145. Gate boxes on gas shut-off valves
All gas companies shall install gate boxes on all shut-off valves located on all gas mains and services, to make valves more easily and immediately accessible. The gas companies shall annually inspect and ensure the operability of the shut-off valves and shall ensure that the shut-off valves are unobstructed and easily accessible.
