An Act relative to motorcycle exhaust system sound levels.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Section 7U of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 official edition, is hearby ammended by striking the existing text and substituting the following language:
"Every motorcycle parked or operating in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts manufacturered subsequent to December 31, 1982 shall satisfy the exhaust system labeling requirements of 40 C.F.R. §§ 205.158 and 205.169. Such labeling shall be clearly visible to inspection without the necessity or removing any equiptment attached to the motorcycle or requiring the use of any inspection mirriors or other optical aids.
An initial violation of this statue is punishable by a fine in the amount of $250.00. A second violation is punishable by a fine in the amount of $500.00. A third violation is punishable by a fine in the amount of $1,000.00."
