An Act to promote safe driving.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 8 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting the following paragraph:-
A license or any renewal thereof issued to an operator 85 years of age or older shall expire on an anniversary of the operator’s date of birth occurring more than twelve months but not more than thirty nine months after the effective date of such license. An applicant for the renewal of a license 85 years of age or older shall apply for renewal in person at a registry branch office and shall take and pass a road test administered by the registry.
SECTION 2. The registrar shall develop a public outreach campaign to provide information to drivers on safe driving practices, techniques for self-testing and local transportation alternatives.
