SECTION 1. Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking, in the first paragraph, the words “proof of legal residence” and inserting in place thereof the following:- “proof of lawful presence”; and
by inserting at the end of said paragraph, the following:-
“; provided, that proof of lawful presence shall be established only upon the presentment of a valid driver’s license or identification card issued in compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005 (Pub. L. 109-13, 119 Stat. 302). For the purposes of this section, the presentment of a utility bill, library card, lease, or other documents which may serve to prove residence shall not be sufficient in establishing an applicant’s lawful presence.”
