An Act relative to the veteran status of certain officials.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1: Section 40 of chapter 6, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph the following paragraph:-
The commandant of the soldiers’ home in Chelsea and any member of the board of trustees at said soldiers’ home shall be a veteran, as defined by chapter 115, section 1. Any person who is serving in such a position as of the effective date of this act shall remain in said position until the term is finished or quit, terminated, or retired.
SECTION 2: Section 70 of chapter 6, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph the following paragraph:-
The superintendent of the soldiers’ home in Holyoke and any member of the board of trustees at said soldiers’ home shall be a veteran, as defined by chapter 115, section 1. Any person who is currently serving in such a position as of the effective date of this act shall remain in said position until the term is finished or quit, terminated, or retired.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
