An Act relative to the civil service eligibility list for police officers in the city of Quincy.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 26 of chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, John Patrick Ryan, the son of John Ryan, a police officer in the city of Quincy who was injured by an assault on his person while in the performance of his duties, shall have his name certified for original appointment to the police service before all other persons on the eligible list for such appointment except any disabled veterans whose names may appear on that list; provided, however, that John Patrick Ryan shall pass the required written and physical examination for entrance to the police service.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
