An Act exempting part-time call firefighters in the town of Athol from the civil service law.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to provide an exemption for part-time call firefighters from the civil service law in the town of Athol, therefore, it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other general or special law or rule or 1 regulation to the contrary, the position of part-time call firefighter in the town of Athol shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter 31 of the General Laws.
SECTION 2. The provisions of section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of persons holding the position of part-time call firefighter in the town of Athol on the effective date of this act.
