An Act designating a certain bridge in the town of Barre as the U.S.N. S2/C Basil D. Izzi Memorial Bridge.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Bridge B-02-006 on South Barre Road, also known as state highway route 32 in the town of Barre, shall be designated and known as the “U.S.N S2/C Basil D. Izzi Memorial Bridge”, in recognition of Seaman Second Class Basil D. Izzi who survived for 83 days while lost at sea after his ship was torpedoed by a German U-Boat in 1942. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
