An Act to provide contract employees with health insurance and retirement benefits.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section  1 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by deleting the word “and” in line 186 and inserting the following words in line 189 after the word “commonwealth”:- “and including any person who is not an independent contractor as identified under paragraphs (1) through (3)  of Section 148B (a) of Chapter 149 of the General Laws,”.

SECTION 2. Section 2 of Chapter 32A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting the following words in line 17 after the word “authority,”:- “ including any person who is not an independent contractor as identified under paragraphs (1) through (3)  of Section 148B (a) of Chapter 149 of the General Laws,”.

SECTION 3. Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect upon the effective date of this for all employees hired on or after the effective date of this legislation. Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect on January 1, 2016 for all current employees hired prior to the effective date of this legislation.
