An Act enhancing school district transportation safety.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 7A of chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 47, the following paragraph:-
“Notwithstanding subsection (a) a school district may apply to the department for reimbursement of transportation costs incurred by said district for transporting a student who resides less than one and one-half miles from the school if the route that said student would otherwise travel does not include access to a pedestrian sidewalk, or has a documented history of vehicular accidents.”
SECTION 2. The department shall promulgate regulations to effectuate this section.
