In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act relative to regional school transportation funding.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 16C of chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof, the following:-
“Should the payment from the commonwealth be insufficient to reimburse the full amount expended for transportation, the local appropriating authority of any participating city or town in a regional school district, may, by a vote of each, assess reasonable fees to a transported student necessary to meet the obligations set forth in this section. Any fee assessed pursuant to this section shall not be greater than the amount necessary to cover the costs incurred by the district.”
