In the Year Two Thousand Thirteen

An Act to establish a commission on full and fair education funding and administration.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. A commission will be created consisting of five members; one appointed by the Governor; one by the Speaker of the House, one by the Minority Leader of the House, one by the President of the Senate and one by the Minority leader of the Senate. It will be the duty of this commission to within a period of one year investigate the current methods and levels of funding and administering public education consisting of; but not limited to; local schools, charter schools, and regional schools. This commission will study and compile a report on alternatives to the current mix of local elected and appointed school committees administering local education; and on alternatives to the current mix of local taxes and state aid for funding the same.
