An Act relative to a surcharge on criminal cases.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 211B of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section after Section 21:--

Section 22. There shall be an additional surcharge fine of $50 for a fine of $500.00 or less and a surcharge of $100.00 for a fine of more than $500.00 assessed in all criminal cases.  A surcharge on criminal cases shall only be applicable to criminal infractions.  Said fee shall be for the operation of the trial court and shall be payable to the General Fund.
