An Act providing for increased penalties for persons who commit crimes against the elderly..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Subsection (a) of section 15A of chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the word “ten”, in line 3, and inserting in place thereof the following word:-fifteen; by striking out the word “one”, in line 4, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- two; by striking out the words “two and one-half”, in line 5, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- five; and by striking out the word "two", in line 9, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- five.

SECTION 2.  Subsection (a) of section 15B of said chapter 265 is hereby amended by striking out the word "five", in line 3, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- ten; by striking out the word "one", in line 4, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- two; by striking out the words "two and one-half", in line 5, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- five; and by striking out the words "one year", in lines 9-10, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “five years.”  

SECTION 3.  Subsection (a) of section 18 of said chapter 265 is hereby amended by striking out the word "twenty", in line 3, and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- twenty five; and by striking out the word "two", in line 10, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- five.

SECTION 4.  Subsection (a) of section 19 of said chapter 265 is hereby amended by striking out the words "not less than two years", in lines 8-9, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- life; by striking out the word "two", the second time it appears in line 9, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- ten; and by striking out the word "two", in line 12, and inserting in place thereof the following word:- ten.
