An Act relative to the penalty for failure to provide workers' compensation insurance.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 25C of chapter 152 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 74 to 76, inclusive, the words “by a fine of not more than one thousand five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than 5 years or by imprisonment in the house of correction for not less than 6 months nor more than 2½ years or by a fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $10,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
