An Act relative to redevelopment authority vacancies.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
The fourth paragraph of section 5 of chapter 121B, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:-
Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, if the department does not fill a vacancy within 150 days from the date that a vacancy is created, or within 120 days that one or more individuals applies for the position, provided that it does not exceed 150 days, the board of selectmen in combination with the current members of the redevelopment authority by a majority vote, or in a city, the mayor with the confirmation of the city council, will appoint a person to fill such vacancy for the unexpired portion of the term.
