An Act relative to motor vehicle police chases.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 268 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-
Section 41. Whoever knowingly operates a motor vehicle on a street, road, alley, or highway in this state, to intentionally flee or attempt to elude a law enforcement officer after having received a signal from the officer to bring the vehicle to a stop shall be punished. If convicted the penalty shall be up to 2 1/2 years inthe house of correction and up to one year in state prison. In addition the driver shall receive a fine no less than $500 and no more than $5,000.
