An Act relative to public records requests.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 15 of chapter 66 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out in, in line 8, the words “twenty dollars” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:-$ 100. 

SECTION 2.  Section 15 of chapter 66 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:  Any person who brings a successful claim for the production of public records under this chapter shall be entitled to recover his or her reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.

SECTION 3.  Section 17 of chapter 66 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 7, the words “twenty dollars” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- $100.

SECTION 4.  Section 17 of chapter 66 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:  Any person who brings a successful claim for the production of public records under this chapter shall be entitled to recover his or her reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.
