An Act relative to the Sex Offender Registry.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 178 of chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:
The Sex Offender Registry Board shall classify a convicted sex offender and make a ruling on said offender’s appeal prior to release from sentence within sufficient time to give said offender an appeal of said classification. The Sex Offender Registry Board must alert all sex offenders of their classification and appellate rights within sufficient time to give said sex offender an appeal of said classification prior to release from sentence.
