An Act permitting parental access to medical records.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 12CC of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the first paragraph, the following paragraph:-
A health care provider who maintains records for a minor patient shall permit inspection of such records, including protected health information, by the minor’s parent, guardian or other person acting in loco parentis, and may advise such person of the treatment provided or needed by the minor, with or without the minor’s consent.
