An Act relative to the practice of athletic training.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1 - Section 23A of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the definitions of "Athletic Trainer" and "Athletic Training" and inserting in place thereof the following new definitions:-
“Athletic Trainer”, a person who is duly licensed to practice Athletic Training in the Commonwealth in accordance with section 23B.
“Athletic Training”, the application of principles, methods and procedures of evaluation and treatment of injuries, preconditioning, conditioning and reconditioning of the patient through the use of appropriate preventative and supportive devices, splinting, and bracing, physical modalities, including but not limited to heat, cold, massage, water, electric stimulation, sound, exercise and exercise equipment in collaboration with physicians or dentists duly registered in the Commonwealth. Athletic training includes education and instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel and the community in the area of treatment, care and prevention of athletic injuries.
