An Act promoting sterilization during surgery.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after section 184C, the following section:
Section184D. Every hospital shall maintain in surgical and intensive care units, in a clear and visible place the following directives:
(a) Wash your hands; (b) Clean the patient’s skin with chlorhexidine antiseptic; (c) Place sterile drapes over the patient’s entire body; (d) Wear a sterile gown, hat, mask and gloves; (e) Put a sterile dressing over the catheter site once the line is inserted.
