An Act clarifying certain utility assessments.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1. Chapter 25 of General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended in Section 18 by striking the second sentence in paragraph two.

Section 2. Said Chapter 25 is hereby amended in Section 18 by striking the second sentence in paragraph three.

Section 3. Said Chapter 25 is hereby amended in Section 18 by adding at the end thereof the following new sentence:-

“Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the amount of the assessments authorized in this section may be increased by the commission annually but the rate of any such increase shall not exceed the most recent annual consumer price index as calculated for the northeast region for all urban consumers.”
