An Act relative to veterans' and other private clubs.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 23K of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 72. Upon application the commission may license a private club to operate a gaming device.  Each such gaming device operated in a private club shall be separately licensed pursuant to regulations promulgated by the commission.  As used in this section the term “private club” shall mean a not-for-profit entity that is comprised of members who collectively belong to (i) a veterans’ organization incorporated or chartered by the Congress of the United States, or otherwise, having 1 or more affiliated chapters or branches incorporated in any state; or (ii) a society, organization or association of a fraternal nature that operates under the lodge system, and have 1 or more affiliated chapters or branches incorporated in any state.
