An Act relative to junior operator’s licenses.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1 Chapter 90 of the general laws is hereby amended by adding the following new section, Section 8AA.
SECTION 8AA Junior Operator’s License Violations
Any holder of a junior operator license convicted of the offense of the possession of alcohol, marijuana or of any other controlled substance deemed illegal by the commonwealth shall:
-forfeit his junior operator’s license
-be required to attend a substance abuse program for not less than three months
-pay a fine of not less than $1,000 to the general fund of the commonwealth.
Such an individual shall not be eligible for another license to operate a motor vehicle from the commonwealth until the latter two requirements are fulfilled.
The registrar shall issue rules and regulations to carry out the above provisions.
