An Act establishing a special commission on transportation in the city of Boston.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. There shall be a special commission established on transportation and transit improvements. The commission shall examine current transportation and infrastructure in ward 6 and ward 7 of the city of Boston. The commission shall recommend priorities for transportation improvement projects from funding allocated in line item 6622-1383 of chapter 79, acts of 2014 and shall report its findings, to the senate and house committees on ways and means no later than June 1, 2016.
SECTION 2: Line item 6622-1382 of chapter 70 of the acts of 2014 is hereby amended by striking out the following language: "taking into consideration the recommendations of the 2014 South Boston Waterfront Transportation Plan".
SECTION 3. The commission shall consist of ten members: the senator from the first Suffolk district; the representative from the fourth Suffolk district; one member from the Boston Transportation Department appointed by the mayor of Boston; the Boston city councilor from district two; one Boston city councilor elected at-large and appointed by the city council president; two members appointed by the secretary of the department of transportation, one from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and one from the Massachusetts Highway Department; the executive director of the Massachusetts Port Authority; the executive director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority; and the Seaport TMA.
