An Act relative to safe driving in school speed zones.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 9 of Chapter 155 of the Acts of 2010 is hereby amended by adding, after the word "vehicle." the following:-

A person, regardless of age, may not use a wireless telephone at any time while operating a motor vehicle on a roadway in a school speed zone.

This does not apply to a person using a wireless telephone for emergency purposes, including, but not limited to, law enforcement agency, health care provider, fire department, or other emergency services agency or entity, of a law enforcement officer or operator of an emergency vehicle when performing the officer's or operator's official duties.
