An Act amending the composition of the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission in the city of Malden.

 

     Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to amend the composition of the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission of the City of Malden, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1.  Chapter 456 of the Acts of 1946, as most recently amended by Chapter 291 of the Acts of 2012, is hereby further amended by striking out Section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following:

Section1. There is hereby established in the City of Malden a commission to be known as the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission, which shall consist of the Mayor or his designee, the High School Principal, the High School Director of Athletics, the Recreation Coordinator, and two residents appointed by the City Council and one resident appointed by the Mayor, for a term of three years.  To the extent practicable, the member appointed by the Mayor will be a resident of the area surrounding the Stadium.  In the making of initial appointments hereunder, the Mayoral appointee shall be appointed for a term of one year, one Council appointee shall be appointed for the term of two years and one Council appointee shall be appointed for the term of three years.  Upon the expiration of the term of an appointed member, his successor shall be appointed for a term of three years.  Upon passage of this act and annually thereafter, the Commission shall organize by choice of a Chairman and Clerk, both of whom shall be members of the Commission.

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
