By Representative McMurtry of Dedham and Senator Rush, a joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3198) of Paul McMurtry and Michael F. Rush (by vote of the town) that the town Westwood be authorized to exempt the positions of fire chief and deputy fire chief from certain provisions of the civil service law.  Public Service.  [Local Approval Received.]

An Act exempting all positions in the fire department of the town of Westwood from civil service laws.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. All positions in the fire department of the town of Westwood, including the positions of fire chief and deputy chief, shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2.  Section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding a position described in section 1 on the effective date of this act.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
