An Act relative to unemployment insurance notices.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 151A is hereby amended by inserting after section 6 the following section:-

Section 6 ½. (a) Any employing unit that hires an individual performing services exempt from employment, pursuant to section 6, shall notify the individual that he or she may not be eligible for benefits under this chapter based on such services.

(b) An employing unit shall provide the notice of potential ineligibility to the individual at the time of hire, in writing.

(c) An employing unit’s compliance with the notice requirements of this section shall not affect an individual's eligibility for benefits.

(d) For the purposes of this subsection, “employing unit” shall mean a partnership, firm, association, trust, trustee, estate, joint stock company, insurance company, corporation, or governmental employer only.
