An Act relative to the town manager in the town of Dedham.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 4-2 of the charter of the town of Dedham, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 53 of the acts of 2014, is hereby amended by striking out subsection (h) and inserting in place thereof the following subsection:-

(h) to have full  jurisdiction over the leasing of all town facilities. The town manager shall have full jurisdiction over the use of all town facilities and property except property under the control of the school committee, the board of library trustees, the parks and recreation commission and the conservation commission. The town manager shall be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all town buildings and facilities, other than those under the control of the school committee, the board of library trustees, the conservation commission, and the parks and fields in the custody of the parks and recreation commission.

SECTION 2. Section 1 shall be presented to the voters of the town of Dedham at an election in the form of the following question:

“Shall an act passed by the general court in the year 2014, entitled ‘AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE TOWN MANAGER IN THE TOWN OF DEDHAM’, which clarifies the authority of the town manager, be accepted?”

If a majority of the votes cast in answer to this question is in the affirmative, section 1 of this act shall take effect immediately, but not otherwise.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
