An Act exempting the city of Springfield from certain provisions of Section 29 of Chapter 43.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section1. Notwithstanding the provisions of the first sentence of section 29 of chapter 43 of the General laws, or any  other general law or special law to the contrary, in the City of Springfield, all contracts made by department, board or commission, where the amount meets or exceeds the dollar threshold established by section 5(a) of chapter 30B for requiring competitive sealed bids, shall be in writing, and no such contract shall be deemed to have been made or executed until the approval of the mayor, and also of the officer or head of the department or of the chairman of the board, as the case may be, making the contract is affixed thereto, but such contracts shall be subject to compliance with section17 of chapter 30B, to the extent applicable.”

Section2. The provisions of this act shall take effect on the day of its passage.
