Rush for legislation to grant preferential treatment to the son of Officer Paul Brown, a disabled retired police officer of the town of Dedham, on the civil service list for appointment as a police officer. An Act relative to the disability retirement of Dedham Police Officer Paul Brown.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1.Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, a son of Paul Brown, who was injured in the performance of his duty as a police officer in the town of Dedham, who passes the required written and physical examination for entrance to the police service shall have his name certified for original appointment to the police service before all other persons on the eligible list for appointment; provided, however, that such placement shall not displace any person with a veteran’s preference.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
