An Act to authorize the city of Melrose, acting through its liquor license commission, to issue licenses to table-service restaurants and function rooms with minimum seating capacities.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 11 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, or any other general or special law to the contrary, the City of Melrose, acting through its Liquor Licensing Commission, is hereby granted the authority to issue licenses to table-service restaurants and function rooms having a seating capacity of:

(a) not less than fifty persons for the sale therein of all alcoholic beverages; and

(b) not less than twenty-five persons for the sale therein of beer and wine only.

SECTION 2.   Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, or any other general or special law to the contrary, the number of licenses for the sale of all forms alcoholic beverages under said section 12 of said chapter 138 shall be 14.

SECTION 3.   Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, or any other general or special law to the contrary, the number of licenses for the sale of wines and malt beverages under said section 12 of said chapter 138 shall be 6.

SECTION 4.   This act shall take effect upon its passage.
