An Act eliminating the preliminary election in the city of Lynn in 2015.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary and notwithstanding Section 7 -4 of the Lynn City Charter, there shall be no preliminary election in the City of Lynn as otherwise required on September 1, 2015 for either the office of school committee for a 2–year term or for the office of city council for a 2–year term. All candidates whose nomination papers have been duly certified shall be deemed to have been nominated and their names shall appear on the general election ballot.  Any person may seek any elected office via a write-in campaign in the general election in November. 

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
