An Act relative to regional charter schools.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

The second subparagraph of paragraph (2) of subsection (i) of section 89 of chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:-

An application for a regional charter school to be located in a region where student performance on the statewide assessment system, when taken in the aggregate for all districts to be included in the region, is in the lowest 10 per cent statewide in the 2 years preceding the charter application shall not be approved unless the regional charter school shall be physically located in a district within the region where such performance is in the lowest 10 per cent statewide in the 2 years preceding the charter application.
