By Mr. Bradley of Hingham, a petition (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Garrett J. Bradley, James M. Murphy and Robert L. Hedlund for legislation to designate a certain traffic island in the town of Hingham as the Frank Massa memorial island.  Transportation.

An Act designating a certain traffic island in the town of Hingham as The Frank Massa Memorial Island.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  The island at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Fottler Road in the town of Hingham shall be designated and known as the "The Frank Massa Memorial Island”, in honor of Mr. Frank Massa, founder of Massa Products of Hingham, MA. 

Mr. Massa, who passed away in 1990, is best known for his contributions to the field of acoustical engineering; he has been called the “Father of Modern Electro Acoustics” and is known as a pioneer in the design of transducers and systems for both air and underwater applications used by the U.S. Military.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.

SECTION 2.   This act shall take effect upon its passage.
