An Act regulating motor vehicle exhaust sound levels.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 7U of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 1, the word "motorcycle" and inserting in place thereof the following words:-

motor vehicle.

SECTION 2. The first paragraph of said section 7U of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- -

A violation of this paragraph shall not be considered as a conviction of a moving violation of the motor vehicle laws for the purpose of determining surcharges on motor vehicle premiums pursuant to section 113B of chapter 175.

SECTION 3. The first paragraph of section 16 of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- 

No person shall, on any way, operate a motor vehicle that is equipped with a muffler from which the baffle plates, screens or other original internal parts have been removed and not replaced.
