Kelcourse and Leonard Mirra for legislation to designate the south bound section of the Interstate 95 bridge between the city of Amesbury and the city of Newburyport as the William Lloyd Garrison bridge. An Act renaming a certain bridge over the Merrimack River on Interstate 95.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 460 of the acts of 1953 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. (a) The northbound section of the bridge constructed over the Merrimack river on interstate 95 between the city of Amesbury and the city of Newburyport shall be known and designated as the John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
(b) The southbound section of the bridge constructed over the Merrimack river on interstate 95 between the city of Amesbury and the city of Newburyport shall be known and designated as the William Lloyd Garrison Bridge. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
