An Act relative to administering controlled substances.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to provide for the administering of controlled substances, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The definition of “Administer” in section 1 of chapter 94C of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out clause (c) and inserting in place thereof the following 2 clauses:-
(c) a registered pharmacist at the direction of a prescribing practitioner in the course of the practitioner’s professional practice with respect to prescriptions for mental health and substance abuse only; or
(d) an ultimate user or research subject at the direction of a practitioner in the course of the practitioner’s professional practice.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of July 1, 2016.
