An Act relative to the reimbursement of local costs of special elections.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section one hundred forty-seven of chapter fifty-four of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new sentence:-
Provided, however, that notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, cities and towns shall be reimbursed for their costs of conducting special elections, called to fill vacancies in offices under this chapter, after certification of said cost by the state auditor.
