An Act providing for the maintenance of the Neponset River for the health and safety of the public.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  The department of conservation and recreation shall perform regular review and maintenance of the Neponset River in the city of Boston to ensure the health and safety of the public, including those persons who walk along the river and those who engage in recreational activities on the river such as canoeing and kayaking.   The department shall assign 2 park rangers to its headquarters in Mattapan Square in the city of Boston from the month of March to the end of October annually and the department shall provide the rangers with equipment and gear necessary to remove any fallen trees or shrubs that inhibit the safe passage along the river or any walkway adjacent to the river by members of the public.  Such equipment shall include, but not be limited to, a boat, canoes, phones and radios and tools necessary to accomplish the general maintenance of the Neponset River consistent with the purposes set forth in this act.
