Golden, Jr., and others relative to the suspension of benefits by the Department of Transitional Assistance for persons convicted of certain crimes against the person.  Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities.

An Act relative to the loss of state benefits.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 18 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 31. Any benefit provided to an individual under this chapter shall be suspended by the department should the individual receiving the benefits be convicted of 3 or more crimes against the person under chapter 265.

Upon the suspension of benefits, the department shall hold a hearing to determine the permanent revocation of all benefits provided by this chapter. The department shall promulgate rules and regulations regarding the suspension, revocation, and reinstatement of benefits process.
