An Act relative to tethering of dogs.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 174E of chapter 140 of the General Laws, as appearing in section 48 of chapter 193 of the acts of 2012, is hereby amended by striking out, in section (a), the words “24 consecutive hours,” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - “5 hours in a 24 hour period.”

SECTION 2.  Said section 174E of chapter 140 of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out, in section (d), the words “24 consecutive hours,” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - “5 hours in a 24 hour period.”

SECTION 3. Said section 174E of chapter 140 of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out, in section (g), the words “for a second offense, be punished by a fine of not more than $100 and for a third or subsequent offense, be punished by a fine of not more than $300,” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - “for a second offense, be punished by a fine of not more than $200 and for a third or subsequent offense, be punished by a fine of not more than $500,”.
