An Act relative to protecting against the transmission of pertussis.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 111 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-
Section 230: The commissioner shall adopt regulations requiring hospitals to provide parents of newborns educational information on Pertussis disease and the availability of a vaccine to protect against Pertussis. This educational information shall include, but need not be limited to, information on the Center for Disease Control's recommendation that parents receive Tdap during the post partum period to protect their newborns from the transmission of Pertussis. This information shall be given to parents prior to the discharge of the newborn. Nothing in this section shall be construed to require a hospital to provide or pay for any vaccination against pertussis disease.
