An Act expanding access to work release.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 49 of chapter 127 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, beginning in line 3, the words “who has served such a portion of his sentence or sentences that he would be eligible for parole within eighteen months”.
SECTION 2. Section 49 of chapter 127 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “facility” in line 18 the following sentence:-
Inmates serving the mandatory term for a violation of section 32, 32A, 32B, 32E, or 32J of chapter 94C or section 18, 18C, or 43 of chapter 265 or section 25, 27A, or 28 of chapter 266 or section 39 of chapter 268 or section 10, 10E, 10F, or 10G of chapter 269 may be permitted to participate in programs established under section forty-eight outside a correctional facility.
